Apple has announced a shake-up to its 2026 iPhone lineup, delaying the release of standard iPhone 18 models while simultaneously increasing prices for the iPhone 17. The company launched the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside its first foldable iPhone – the iPhone Duo – at its September event.

iPhone 18 Launch Delayed

Notably absent from the September launch were the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18 SE, and iPhone Air 2. According to leaks, Apple plans to launch these models at a later date, potentially next year. The delay is reportedly due to an ongoing memory shortage crisis impacting the smartphone industry, which has already prompted price increases from manufacturers like Samsung, Oppo, and Vivo.

iPhone 17 Price Increase

The base 256GB model of the iPhone 17 now starts at Rs 99,900, a significant increase from its original launch price of Rs 82,900. The 512GB variant has also seen a price hike, moving from Rs 1,04,500 to Rs 1,24,900. Despite the overall price increases, the iPhone 17 is currently still available at its launch price in some locations, making it a potentially attractive option for buyers who don’t require the latest Pro features.

iPhone 18 Pro & Pro Max Specs

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max boast substantial upgrades, including the new 2nm-based A20 Pro chipset, 12GB of RAM, and storage options up to 2TB. They also feature a variable-aperture lens capable of switching between ƒ/1.48, ƒ/1.8, ƒ/2.8, and ƒ/4.0, alongside an 18MP front-facing camera. Powering these devices is an improved 4,056mAh battery with faster wired charging support.
