The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are now available in India, bringing with them a refreshed colour palette and internal improvements. While the overall design remains familiar, Apple has introduced four colour options for the new models, with Burgundy quickly becoming a standout choice, according to initial reactions.
Colour Choices and Design
Alongside Burgundy, the iPhone 18 Pro is also available in Black – a colour that wasn’t offered with the iPhone 17 Pro – as well as Glacier and Silver. Externally, the design language is largely unchanged from the previous generation. However, Apple has made a notable shift in materials, opting for an Aluminum body after previously using Titanium. The company states that the iPhone 18 Pro is constructed using 40% recycled materials.
Performance and Cooling Improvements
A key upgrade in the iPhone 18 Pro is a redesigned vapor chamber cooling system. This new system utilises new materials and boasts three times more surface area compared to the iPhone 17 Pro, allowing for dramatically sustained performance. This, combined with the new A20 Pro chip, results in the iPhone 18 Pro being 40% faster than its predecessor, according to Apple.
The chip packaging has also been updated, placing memory directly alongside the silicon die for improved contact with the vapor chamber.
Regional Availability and Packaging
As in previous years, Apple will offer eSIM-only variants of the iPhone 18 Pro in some markets. However, customers in India will have access to models with physical SIM card slots. Furthermore, Apple has transitioned to 100% fiber-based paper packaging for the new iPhones, designed for easy home recycling.
Pricing and Storage
- The base iPhone 18 Pro model, with 256GB of storage, starts at Rs 1,64,900 in India.
The Dynamic Island has also been subtly refined, becoming smaller than in previous models, though the practical impact of this change remains to be seen.
