Samsung is already putting its next-generation Galaxy S27 Ultra 5G through its paces, according to recent leaks. The device is expected to be powered by the Exynos 2700 chipset, a new system-on-chip (SoC) built on a 2nm process and slated for release in December 2026.
Next-Gen Chipset Aims for Performance Lead
The Exynos 2700 is intended to compete directly with leading chipsets from rivals like Apple, Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Google. Samsung’s new chip is expected to challenge Apple’s A20, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro, and Google’s Tensor G6 from the Pixel 11 lineup. While detailed benchmark results are not yet available, initial testing reportedly covers CPU, GPU, and NPU performance.
Display Tech and Design Changes
Beyond the processor, Samsung plans to incorporate its M16 OLED display material into the Galaxy S27 lineup, including the standard S27, S27 Plus, S27 Pro, and the Ultra model. The M16 material promises improved colour reproduction and higher peak brightness while maintaining efficient power consumption – the same technology currently featured in the iQOO 16. The Galaxy S27 Ultra and S27 Pro are also expected to feature a redesigned camera housing, with a pill-shaped module alongside a dual-vertical camera arrangement within a rectangular frame.
Price Hike Anticipated
Tipster Anthony suggests the Galaxy S27 Ultra will see a $100 price increase over its predecessor. The device is expected to launch in February 2027 with a starting price of $1399. This would represent a jump from the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s launch price of $1299. The Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to maintain the same launch price as the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Launch Timeline
While Samsung has not officially confirmed a launch date, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is currently expected to debut in February 2027.
