Reliance Jio Will Not Be A Luxury Product

In the 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani mentioned Reliance Jio as the company’s digital services initiative, though kept mum regarding Reliance Jio’s roll out plans.

RIL backed Reliance Jio will not a just another broadband service provider, but aims to become a global leader in delivery of digital content, applications and services.

The official statement from Reliance Industries says, Reliance is investing in future India – that’s digital. RIL wants to radically transform the lives of 1.2 billion Indians. They are focusing on micro and small business houses, digital currency, e-education, e-medicine and others to be a part of India’s economic growth and social progress. The company says Reliance Jio is not just another business, but it’s the passion and belief to the market to transform India.

The statement also says Reliance Jio is aggressive to recruit more professionals – it is going to triple its manpower from current 3,000 employees.

Regarding the price and tariff of services from Reliance Jio, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman at RIL says, “broadband and digital services will no longer be a luxury item – a scarce commodity – to be rationed amongst the privileged few.”

Reliance has finalized key partners and vendors for initial launch and the services will get launched across the country in next 12 months. The company says on delayed launch, “Our impatience to reach our goal demands a sense of urgency, but not careless haste.”
