Airtel to Launch 4G LTE Services on Mobile Phone

India’s first 4G service provider Bharti Airtel all set to launch its 4G LTE service for mobile customers wherein airtel 4G users can enjoy fourth generation mobile service over LTE enabled smart-phones.

According to our exclusive sources Airtel will officially launch 4G LTE services on Mobile Phone by the end of December, 2013 (expected in 3 weeks from now).As of now Airtel 4G services providing only Broadband Wireless Access over LTE and Voice over 4G is still not launched by the operator due to regulatory and technical issues.

We believe that initially Airtel will provide 4G Data and Mobile service over recently announced Huawei Ascend P1 LTE smartphone. The Ascend P1 LTE uses Circuit Switched Voice Fall Back technology to support voice calls over 3G and 4G The smartphone is powered by 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB storage, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display with Gorilla Glass 2, and 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash.

Airtel is also testing 4G LTE smartphones from Samsung, ZTE and other Indian smartphone vendors such as Micromax on its 4G LTE network.

Airtel already applied for dedicated series of 4G  mobile numbers to Department of Telecom (DoT) for each service area alloted to them to offer voice over 4G.

In 2010, Airtel had successfully bid for BWA license spectrum in Kolkata, Karnataka, Punjab and Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai) circles. Additionally, earlier this year, Bharti Airtel acquired 100% stake in Qualcomm AP’s India entities (WBSPL) that hold BWA licenses in Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala. The company has launched its 4G LTE services in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune, Chandigarh, Panchkulaa, and Mohali and is currently working towards rolling out networks in remaining licence circles.
