Oppo is pushing the boundaries of smartphone AI with ColorOS 17, a major software upgrade debuting on the Find X10 series, launched in China on September 24, 2026. Rather than focusing solely on chatbot-style AI, Oppo’s approach centres on integrating artificial intelligence directly into everyday tasks to boost user productivity.
On-Device AI for Efficiency
A core component of ColorOS 17 is the implementation of an on-device Large Language Model (LLM). This allows the Oppo Find X10 to process certain AI requests without relying on cloud-based servers. According to Oppo, this results in a 48% reduction in memory consumption and a 55% decrease in power usage for supported AI functions. The system also incorporates Memory Symbiosis Engines, which learn user behaviour to proactively present relevant information.
Key AI Features in ColorOS 17
- Xiaobou AI Assistant Upgrade: Oppo’s Xiaobou AI Assistant has been enhanced with the on-device LLM, leading to improved understanding and more efficient cloud-device collaboration.
- AI Imaging Tools: The Find X10’s camera benefits from AI-powered image enhancement, allowing users to adjust lighting, tone, and colour with professional-level results. The 200MP camera on the Find X10 and the Hasselblad-partnered 50MP triple-camera system on the Find X10e both receive these upgrades.
- Danxi Colour Restoration Lens: The second-generation Danxi Colour Restoration Lens uses the LUMO colour palette to restore skin tones and environmental scenes for more natural-looking photos.
- AI Video Creation: The Find X10 is the first Android phone to implement “Open Gate”, allowing direct capture using the sensor’s native aspect ratio for greater cropping flexibility. AI composition features also leverage the LUMO Colour palette to enhance video quality.
- AI One Tap Flash Note: This new feature provides a single-tap shortcut to access frequently needed information, such as delivery codes, contact details, or event information, streamlining note-taking.
- AI-Powered Travel Assistance: ColorOS 17’s AI can automatically generate travel itineraries, book tickets, check in for flights, and even arrange car rentals.
