OnePlus has confirmed that its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16 5G, will launch in China on October 12, 2026. The announcement came from OnePlus China president, Li Jie Louis, at the OnePlus Gaming Conference 2026.
Gaming Focus and New Technologies
The OnePlus 16 5G is being positioned as a powerhouse for mobile gaming. The device will incorporate a new generation Fengchi Gaming Kernel, designed to optimise hardware resource allocation across the phone for improved performance. OnePlus claims this will enable sustained gaming at 185fps.
Central to this gaming performance is a newly developed, self-designed three-chip esports system. This system is intended to enhance touch response, networking, and display processing, leading to greater connection stability, improved visual clarity, and more responsive controls. According to OnePlus, titles like Arena Breakout, Peace Elite, Nizhan: Future, and Naruto Mobile will all be capable of running at 185fps for extended periods on the device.

India Launch Unlikely
Despite being a flagship device, the OnePlus 16 5G is not expected to be released in the Indian market. This decision, as reported by TelecomTalk, is due to rising memory costs which would push the price of the phone too high for impactful sales in the region. Instead, OnePlus plans to launch the OnePlus 16R 5G as its top-tier offering in India in 2026.
